The user must have the Execute permission for Test. See Roles and Permissions for more details. |
While the menu option is available in both TestFirst Desktop and TestFirst Web, the Test Execution Module is only available in the TestFirst Desktop app, hence a test can only be executed using the desktop app. |
In order to execute a test:
- Right-click on the test you want to execute. A context menu will appear.
- Click on the Start Test Execution option.
TestFirst Desktop
The main application window will disappear and the Test Execution Module (TEM) with a running test session will be opened. To read more on TEM, refer to Test Execution Module (TEM) and Annotation Module (AM).
TestFirst Web
The Test Execution Module (TEM) of the Desktop app will be opened (only available on Windows). To read more on TEM, refer to Test Execution Module (TEM) and Annotation Module (AM).
If a test is already in Passed status, a confirmation dialog with a “This test is already in Passed status” message will appear. If you want to add an additional test result, click YES. If not, click NO. |
If a test is in Incomplete status, an Information modal will appear with two buttons: Resume Test to resume the incomplete test session and Add New Result to start a new test session. You can pick whichever option you prefer. |
A test with no steps cannot be executed. If you attempt to execute a test with no test steps, an error message informing you of that will pop up. |
